Thankful Thursday on Friday

When I woke up Thanksgiving morning I had all the usual Thanksgiving Day “snapshots” in my mind…watching the parade, lots of time with family, and a delicious meal.  We got up, and to my delight, Macy was in to watching the parade (for almost an hour…we even caught the Rockettes!).  Doug and I got busy making green bean casserole and Doug’s famous mashed potatoes.  We even made it to Brian and Louisa’s house on time…things were going just right!  The family sat down and ate the delicious meal that I had been craving for weeks.  We were still sitting at the table enjoying talking and laughing when something very unexpected happened….Macy threw up in my lap….awesome.  She had been acting a little odd that morning, but I was really hoping that it was just a fluke.  We quickly got our things together and headed home.  Thankfully, that was the only time Macy “dripped”.  She has had a little fever since we got home, but nothing a little tylenol can’t knock out.
Unfortunately, I didn’t get a chance to take any pictures of our family Thanksgiving…I didn’t even get a chance to get the camera out of the bag, but even though our Thanksgiving didn’t turn out exactly like I had pictured, I am still very thankful for the wonderful time with my family.  My favorite part of the day didn’t even include a Thanksgiving-ish activity.  Both kids fell asleep on the way home and Doug and I were driving with the windows rolled down (I had extra clothes for Macy…not for Mommy) on a perfect fall day…just me and my love.  🙂
I did manage to get a picture of Steven eating his “dessert” (pumpkin apple baby food) later that night.

It was really liquidy (it’s not a real word, but it should be), so it was pretty messy just trying to get it in his mouth…imagine trying to feed a baby orange juice with a spoon.  The liquid consistency really didn’t help when I had to turn for a SPLIT SECOND to keep Macy from pulling down the curtains that were RIGHT NEXT TO the highchair.  Steven is ALL BOY and when he saw an opportunity for mischief he took it…fast.

I’m quickly learning what the saying “boys will be boys” really means! 😉  Doug and I are about to watch a movie, so I’ll have to write about Thankful Friday on Saturday.  I’m not doing so hot with this blogging every day thing! 😉

  1. Happy late Thanksgiving! And, welcome to the world of raising a boy! 🙂 If Steven is anything like Eli, he will be fearless (and nearly give you a heart attack in the process). My latest boy example: I looked up and Eli was STANDING up in the window. Yes, he climbed onto the couch, over the back, and into the window sill to look outside! Good luck!! 🙂

  2. Indeed boys are VERY different from girls right from the start! I will second Donna’s fearless comments, too!
But just look how precious your little boy is! I love these pictures 🙂
