After talking to Logan’s doctor yesterday, I was shocked when i walked in today and his nurse told me that she was about to try to give him a bottle…and I was there just in time to give it to him myself! His doctor said that he could try a bottle 3 times a day as long as his respiration stayed around 70.
I changed his diaper for the first time (which made him really mad because my hands were freezing) then settled in to feed him. It took him a little longer than they usually allow (they like babies to take their full feed in 30 mins or less because it wears out their little bodies to work longer than that), but since it was his first try they let him eat until he wouldn’t take any more. His full feedings today are 52CCs and he was able to get 45CCs in about 40ish minutes from the bottle. His respiration went up a few times while he was eating, but he was able to get it back down in a few seconds. Logan’s doctor also said that I can try to nurse him once tomorrow.
This is another stage that premier just have to figure out. I remember Steven’s first bottle feedings and nursing sessions were very inconsistent at first, but once he figured it out it didn’t take long for him to “get it”. Hopefully Logan will follow in his brother’s footsteps!
(I don’t have a new picture today…I was way too busy loving on him to think about my camera. I’ll try to remember tonight if we go or tomorrow)
