Zoo Days

I want to get the kids out as much as I can while we’re having these beautiful fall days, so we’ve been making a lot of zoo trips.  I love our zoo!
Macy has always liked touching the statues, but this visit was the first time that she asked to sit on them…that’s a big step for her!

The statues she couldn’t sit on got hugs and kisses…

On this day, the monkeys were going nuts!  They were making their loud monkey noise (which is REALLY loud) and swinging around.  In addition to sitting on statues, Macy also wanted to climb the fences (what has gotten into this child?).  I think she could have stayed on this fence and watched the monkeys all day.

Steven was a fan of the monkeys too…

Grams has been visiting this week, so back to the zoo we went.  Macy’s first for this trip was feeding the goats.  She was too fast for me to catch a picture, but she actually fed them on her own!

After a few goats nibbled a little to close for Macy’s comfort, she decided that feeding them through the fence was safer for her fingers. 😉

This picture has nothing to do with my kids, but I’ve never seen one of the elephants try to eat the leaves and thought it was cool.

The zoo has been getting ready for The Lights Before Christmas.  These huge nutcrackers are outside…and since Macy loves anything she can touch they became fast friends.  I used the nutcracker as a ploy to get Macy out of the zoo (without having to carry her out kicking and screaming).  As we were leaving she said that she wanted to come back and see “Mr. Cracker” again.  Mr. Cracker is now one of the favorites at the zoo (I think in this picture she was telling me to “go over there”…aka “go away”.  Can’t wait until she’s a teenager!).
