Steven is still doing well (it’s awesome to be able to say that every day). His feedings have increased to 24mL…30mL is about the same as 1oz, so we’re very close! He’s gained another ounce today and is up to 3lbs 13oz. His biliruben has gone up to 9.8…he’s walking a fine line with those lights!
Tomorrow is his last day of antibiodics, so his IV will only be used for extra fluids. He’s graduated from the “super leaded” fluids to “decaf”. His nurse last night said that he will probably be on sugar water soon. Once he’s taking enough milk at each feeding then his IV will come out! I’m very excited about that day. They have to move his IV every 3 days and they’ve already used both of his hands and feet, so his IV is actually in his head right now. I didn’t know they could do that, but it actually seems to irritate him less than when it was on a hand or foot. Now at least he can move any way that he wants without a splinted arm or leg getting in his way. The IV in his head does look really bad though (at least it does to me), so I’m not going to risk scarring anyone with a picture for the next couple of days.
On a fun note, mom and I went shopping yesterday to get him a few blue things and premie clothes since all of Macy’s clothes are newborn and neutral colors. The NICU has been dressing him in some of their clothes so I’m excited about seeing him in some of his own clothes. Hopefully the IV will be out soon and I can get some pictures to show off his new wardrobe. 🙂

I didn’t know about the IV in the head until recently when they did that to a co-workers baby. She said it does look scary but seemed to irritate her daughter less too. Go figure! Been enjoying the updates and pics! Can’t wait til he can go home 🙂 Love you all!!!
