Peas please…

I’m starting to think that we might have some food issues in the future…Macy tried her first green veggie last night…sweet peas (one of my personal favorites).  She wasn’t too fond of them.  Luckily we had the video camera rolling for this event.  I figured that her first green vegetable was something worth documenting…and it definitely proved itself!  Not only did she make HORRIBLE faces for the first two bites, but she didn’t even want to close her mouth by the third bite and she gagged trying to get that third bite down!  I didn’t know babies could gag!!!  We stopped after the third bite for fear that she was going to throw up and promised a sweeter veggie next time.
I tried the peas again today, but this time I mixed milk in with them to make a kind of “pea soup”.  She wasn’t thrilled about having the green stuff again, but I did get about 10 little bites down and there wasn’t gagging today!  I’ve read that babies have to be exposed to a food several times before they might be willing to eat it, so I haven’t given up on the pea quest yet.  I’ll try to get a picture of her eating her peas because it’s really too funny to keep to ourselves.  Doug said he would put the “first peas” video on youtube, so I’ll get the link out when it’s up. 🙂
