Steven had a big day yesterday. When I went to see him he had pulled his feeding tube out again and his nurse was busy feeding another baby so she just left it out while he nursed. Steven obviously wanted to show us all what he could do without it in because he drank 46ml!!! Only 2ml short of a full feeding!! We were all shocked and very impressed! His nurse didn’t want to put the tube back in when he was finished because she was scared that he would gag and throw up all that he had just worked so hard for and it wasn’t with risking it for 2ml, so I got to take his first “tube-free” pictures!
His doctor came in before he nursed to let me know that he’s going up to 4 bottle/breast feedings a day and that I can start trying to nurse him 2 times a day whenever I’m ready. She also said that she’s hoping he’ll get to come home around the end of next week or beginning of the following week! So hopefully he’ll be home in about 2 weeks!
We have another big prayer request going on in the Adam household…Doug was sick last week with a viral infection and yesterday Macy woke up sick. Doug’s mom has a itchy throat and a cough this morning and I have an itchy throat…this virus wants to take us all down!! Please pray that Doug won’t get sick again and that his mom and I don’t get it as badly as Doug and Macy have had it. Please pray that Macy’s little body will fight off the infection quickly (because it’s NO FUN to have a sick toddler). Also, I won’t be able to go to the hospital until I’m symptom-free, so please pray that I’ll be symptom free quickly and that Steven will remember nursing and do just as well as he has been…and that I will stay strong emotionally while I’m at home.
He must be dreaming of feeding in that second photo, because he’s got an awfully big smile going on! 🙂
