Our Little Man

“Baby Boy Adam” (that’s right…we’re still working on a name) decided to make an early grand arrival this morning. I had noticed a few changes overnight that made me nervous so I asked to have him hooked up to the heart monitor all night so that I could try to sleep knowing his heartrate was being monitored. Around 5am I noticed that the fluid had changed and I started having what I thought were gas pains around 6 (they were really low under the baby instead of on top which is why I didn’t think they were contractions). My doctor came in and said a change in fluid was normal but it meant that we were getting closer and he’d probably come sometime this weekend. He said he would get me something for the gas pain. He and his entourage continued on their rounds and I waited for the gas medicine.
As I waited the pain got steadily worse. I felt like a dork being in so much pain from gas, but it got to the point where I was in so much pain that I knew something bad was going on. I called Doug around 9:00 and told him that something was happening and hr needed to come to the hospital.
My nurse came in and hooked me up to the monitor and said that I was having little contractions….these were little?!?! She paged a doctor and got things ready for the doctor to check and see if I was dialated. So we waited and waited and were still doctorless 15 minutes later. A different doctor from my doctor’s group heard the call and came in about the same time Doug got to the room at
