Growing girl

It was a week ago today that we realized Macy is getting her first teeth.  Last Tuesday, I felt two little “teethlings” peeking out of her bottom gums….and then, like my finger on her gums set off an alarm, the teething behaviors began and we had some challenging days. A week later she seems to be adjusting to her teeth nicely and as soon as I can see them I’ll try to get a picture.  Since she has reached this milestone I thought I’d try another milestone today…the sippy cup (this is what happens when I don’t go to work…I experiment).  I put some water in one of Macy’s new sippy cups to see how she took to it.

At first it was a strange toy…

Then (like with all teething babies) if it can go in my hands, then it can go in my mouth….

I was shocked that in about 2 minutes she had the concept down (the manufacturers of these things know what they’re doing).  The part she had trouble with was actually getting the water.  I think she got it a few times, but it was cold (and me not thinking about the fact that she doesn’t usually drink cold things) so I think that threw her off.  I learned later that she does NOT like to try and figure out a sippy cup when it has milk in it…apparently milk isn’t something to play around with.  At least this will be something she can try out for a few months before we start taking the bottle out of the picture.  Next time I’m going to try lukewarm water and see if that works any better
.
Overall, it was a fun new thing to try…she’ll get the hang of it eventually. 🙂
